Finding Your Resilience

As we have learnt from recent months, anything can happen, meaning that our resilience is being put to the test now more than ever.

This year’s BIBA Conference theme was Strengthening Resilience, representing the grit and determination that has been shown by those across the insurance sector this past year.

Resilience is the ability to cope when things don’t quite go to plan. It’s that special something that will allow you to persevere in the face of adversity and bounce back stronger when life throws you down. As we have learnt from recent months, anything can happen, meaning that our resilience is being put to the test now more than ever.

Brokers have been showing extreme resilience in the face of adversity. In the rapid way you’ve switched from office to home working, supporting your people and, we’re proud to see, supporting wider society as well as your customers. We believe that the emotional resilience of the workforce has powered businesses for the last year.

Being truly resilient amounts to long term success. Through hard work and determination, a resilient attitude helps to fortify your mental strength, allowing us to learn from our mistakes. The way we react to stress, change or challenge is immensely powerful, especially in a time of crisis. Our response can help us not just to survive, but to thrive.

At Ageas we understand that in order to provide the best service for our brokers, we need to understand what makes you tick. To help you get to grips with this year’s BIBA theme, we’ve collaborated with professional wellbeing expert Peter Radford (pictured below) to create a series of videos on emotional resilience, exclusively for you!

In the videos, Peter explains how emotional resilience is the ability to adapt to stressful situations and cope with life’s ups and downs, and how it can help us in business just as much as it can in our personal lives. He also shares some practical tips to help build your own emotional resilience straight away, as he guides you through the following topics.
