Ageas’s technical expertise is an advantage for brokers that want to expand their business by offering a non-standard proposition to a known audience. But it takes more than product knowledge and expertise to make a partnership successful. Russell Bence, Commercial Director at ‘Think Insurance’, explains...

“The team at Ageas is an absolute delight to work with, and I’m not just saying that. In this day and age, a partner’s attitude is incredibly important. We expect insurers to be supported by the right technology, but it makes such a difference to know that – if things fall outside the rating, or outside the footprint – we can have a real conversation with someone who knows what we’re actually talking about.”

Think Insurance is based in Walsall in the West Midlands. Most of its business is focused on propositions such as young driver telematics, and motor trade road risks, but Russell’s team wanted to expand with a niche motorhome insurance policy – a segment they knew well.

“The adaptations on motorhomes vary a lot, so we wanted to work with an insurer who understood the product and the market,” said Russell. We introduced Russell to our underwriting experts, for a discussion about motorhome cover and what we might offer – the features or benefits that made sense for customers, and the potential footprint for a product.

“It’s interesting, as a business, Think Insurance doesn’t offer online commerce at the moment,” said Russell, “although we’re looking at online tools in the future. But the team at Ageas knows that, and they were engaged in mutual growth from the outset. That’s the combination of expertise, capability and ‘knowing brokers’ we appreciate. Plus, there was lots of contact from the start – that makes all the difference.”
