A driving force in private motor insurance
Find out moreYou may be aware that Citroën have recently published a recall and 'stop-drive' notice for a number of their vehicles. Citroën are contacting owners of impacted vehicles directly to inform them about a known fault in the vehicle's airbags.
In some instances, Citroën have placed a 'stop drive' notice on vehicles, where Citroen has deemed a vehicle to be unsafe to drive.
What does this mean for Ageas Private Car customers?
In the first instance, if your customers are unsure if the recall or 'stop drive' notice impacts their vehicle, then they should check with Citroen whether their car is affected.
For the full list of impacted Citroën models and a Citroën tool to check individual vehicles, visit the Citroën website.
If their car is affected, they should follow the advice of the manufacturer for their own safety and the safety of other road users
Standard Ageas Private Car policies remain valid. Our policy cover requires customers to ensure their vehicle is roadworthy and safe to drive.
If your customer’s vehicle is affected by the 'stop drive' notice, then it is considered not safe to drive and therefore should not be driven until it is safe to do so or has been repaired
Customers should speak to the manufacturer/garage repairing the defect about how to get the car safely to them
All other cover, for example damage while parked, theft and fire, remains as per our Ageas Private Car policy conditions.
We urge customers to consider their safety and that of other road users. If a policyholder chooses to drive the vehicle after being advised by Citroën not to, and an incident occurs, our Claims Team will assess the claim based on its individual merits.
